Badai salju menerjang Amerika serikat dengan sangat dahsyatnya, hingga 20/11/2014 tercatat 7 orang warga telah meninggal dunia akibat bencana salju yang hampir memutihkan sebagian besar kota New York.


Beberapa kasus kematian terjadi 3 orang dilaporkan meninggal akibat serangan jantung, 1 orang lainnya meninggal akibat terjebak dalam mobil yang dikendarainya.

Sementara itu beberapa dilaporkan ada yang terjebak dalam kendaraan hingga satu hari satu malam, ada juga yang terperangkap dalam rumahnya sendiri akibat salju yang menutupi pintu rumah mereka

Suhu beku terus melanda di 50 negara bagian AS, termasuk Florida dan Hawaii, mengakibatkan gangguan transportasi yang parah.

Guna menolong para warga, lebih dari 100 anggota Garda Nasional dikerahkan ke New York. Mereka akan membantu membersihkan jalan dan menyingkirkan kendaraan yang ditinggalkan.

Badan Cuaca Nasional mengatakan ketinggian salju di beberapa tempat bisa mencapai rekor baru, yaitu sekitar 1,9 meter.
